A journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step...

Well, they say the first step is the hardest. Trying to think about writing an epic post for my first blog to create interest and entice you all to keep reading has proven to be a little stressful :). But here we are and I hope to be able to share with you a little about what life is like down here in Guatemala as well as my thoughts on it. I will put some pics and potentially some video on here from time to time as well. For today my words will have to do.

So I enjoy 80's music, I'll admit it:) there's a lot of it that I really like. The other day I was listening to Phil Collins' version of True Colors and it struck me how the words of this song speak so true to what we are working towards accomplishing here in Guatemala. So here are the words and a link to the song on you tube. Have a listen and read along and see if you aren't touched by what is inside each and everyone of us. Sometimes it just needs some help and opportunity to be displayed. I'm so privileged to be a part of an organization that is helping people in Guatemala and especially kids see their 'true colors' shine through!

you with the sad eyes
don’t be discouraged oh I realize
it’s hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
makes you feel so small

but I see your true colors shining through
I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you
So don’t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors, true colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then
Don’t be unhappy can’t remember when
I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you’ve taken all you can bear
Just call me up
Because you know I’ll be there’
